Pennsylvania Trip

While I didn’t bring the kayak with me, I did manage to get in a few good days of fishing on my Pennsylvania trip.

Two lakes today…  First was Memorial Lake…  We intended on renting a boat there, but sadly, it turns out you can only rent by appointment during the week there.  The scouting report hadn’t turned up that vital information, and neither did the website, but such is life.  We managed to get in some shore fishing by the dam, and turned out a few good bass and pickerel.

Secondly, he headed out to Kaercher Creek Lake.  For the drive between the two, the weather was UNREAL.  Fantastic thunderstorms, with lightning crashing down all around us.  We weren’t sure we could even fish when we got there, but we went anyways.

When we arrived, there was a light drizzle, but the lightning was gone, so we set out towards the end of the lake furthest from the dam ( the east end, I believe ).  There’s a concrete pad there that we started casting from, and we got into bass right away.  Then, I had something break me off very quickly.  Must’ve been a sizable pike.  The fishable shoreline is lined pretty heavily by weeds, but this would be a GREAT kayak fishing lake.

Our annual run up to Promised Land State Park.  And our annual boat rental.  We hooked into a few very nice largemouth (15+ inches, which is great for that Lake) and a good amount of pickerel.  The bass were biting VERY lightly, but if you could feel it, they were there to be caught.
