Not sure if you have email notifications turned on Steve, but I was wondering how you were doing in the Kayak and on Black Creek this year?

Thanks for the information! Maybe by the end of next week I can test some of that out while in my kayak. I am heading out to Irondequoit Creek today to see if I can find some trout! Still a little cold for the kayak so I will be on foot... I am dying to get the kayak out!

One of the baits I use in Black Creek is a small, small white spinnerbait, which usually come in packages labeled as Crappie or panfish spinnerbaits.

I've also taken fish on Senko worms (pumpkin or other reddish ones) in the 4 to 6 inch size.

And amazingly, the Banjo Minnow works pretty well.

I haven't kayaked for trout, but I was considering fishing the mouth of Oatka in my kayak one of these weekends. I would bring a light spinning rod, and some Panther Martin spinners.

Hey I just stumbled across this blog. I discovered kayaking last summer and now I am hooked. I went out a ton all over western NY. I spend a lot of time on Black Creek dropping in behind ARC and also in Churchville since this is where I live. I rigged the kayak for fishing but didnt have much luck anywhere I went. Got any good suggestions on what type of lures or bait to use while in Black Creek? Whats good for trout season?
