After a 2 week bender

June 18th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in fly tying

Yes, there was the occassional high quality local ale involved, but mostly fish bending the rod.

I have much to report, primarily on Northeast Pennsylvania and how it treated me, on and off the water.

I was also energized to begin tying some realistic fly patterns, as much as for art’s sake as for fishings sake. When you look at the storied tradition of fly fishing for trout, and add in the newer approaches to catching bass and pike on the long rod, I think there’s room for artistic non-trout and salmon patterns.

I’ll delve into that more later.

For now, I’m happy to be back, and looking forward to flailing away on the WNY streams again soon… Perhaps tonight?
