- A few from Conesus May 22, 2012I managed to get out on conesus for a few hours this weekend. I caught a nice fat 36" pike along with a smaller tiger and a few bass. Both of the toothy critters were caught on a spro aruku shad in about 10 foot of water. I haven't broken the 40" mark for pike from a kayak yet (my goal for the year) but I'm hoping to be able to call in […]Rob Mahar
- next get together- May 21, 2012Hey- Just wanted to post on here as well- It is looking like the next get together will be on the 26th, at 8 am, at wide waters in macedon. However, there is some question because this is memorial day weekend. If you are planning on coming, or if you want to change the date to the 3rd, please let us know on the new website, located here:… […]Mike Hennessy
- Potential new website May 15, 2012We're getting to the point where we're going to want more functionality (calendars, polls, etc). I'm starting to install and work with some software that allows for social networking, forums, and what have you that we will have complete control of. The reason is simple: if we out grow the Ning site, we're either going to have to start pa […]Kevin Webster
- Branching Out May 14, 2012Clearly, a whole mess of us are from the Rochester area. Makes sense, since when Dr. Shipman roped me into doing this, we both lived here, and still do. And that's great. I'd like to make sure however that we acknowledge our friends from the Buffalo, Syracuse, and Binghamton areas. There's plenty of great fishing in those regions, and while w […]Kevin Webster
- Thank You for Supporting Vets May 13, 2012I'd like to thank all who came out today to support veterans, like myself. Paul, please thank the RIT Fishing Club, on my behalf, for hosting the event. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and got a chance to fish a bit with one of the RIT lads, Mike. In the process I was able be a part of what I believe was his first kayak fish, which was just as cool is if I […]Ben Beals

Finger Lakes Chapter Heroes on the Water Event Announcement – Canadice Lake, 12 May 2012
Come join us for a day of kayak fishing, fellowship, and food on Canadice Lake on Saturday, 12 May 2012. We will launch from the south car top boat launch at Canadice Lake at 9am. Heroes on the Water supporters and volunteers are invited to come fish for fun, but there will also be a Heroes on the Water benefit kayak fishing tournament hosted by the RIT College Bass Club (details will be provided later, but plan on registration starting at 8am). After fishing, we will have a free hamburger/hot dog cookout at the Shelter House in the park at the North end of Hemlock Lake starting at 1pm. We plan to take some veterans along with us to fish as our honored guests, so come out to lend your support and show your appreciation for these heroes!
If you’ve never fished Canadice Lake before, you are in for a treat. It is one of the more pristine and undeveloped of all of the Finger Lakes – it is a beautiful place to paddle and fish! There are both largemouth and smallmouth bass, lake trout, rainbow trout, and brown trout, along with pickerel and sunfish species to target. Also, if you plan to attend, please let us know so we can get a general idea about our head count.
